Hand-painted clay Santon made in Provence

In Provence, as in all the cribs, the angel is present because it symbolizes
the announcement of the good news.
It is the angels who warn the shepherds of the birth of Jesus.

All the santons de Provence sold here are traditionally made in Provence from clay by a local craftsman and fired before being hand-painted.
The adult santons measure around 8/9 cm and all the animals and accessories are the same size.
They are just like us, some bigger, some smaller, some fatter, some thinner!
They are therefore compatible with other collections of 8/9 cm santons.
