Joseph is a simple carpenter who becomes engaged to Mary after she becomes
pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Joseph marries her and thus agrees to become
the father of the child Jesus.

Traditionally, the crib is represented by a stable to welcome the
baby Jesus surrounded by his mother Mary and Joseph his father, the donkey and the ox.
The Christmas crib is a staging with the Holy Family in the first place.
Then come all the inhabitants of the village, because in Provence
it is the whole village that is represented around the advent.
