There are many varieties of Lavender plants. The oldest and most sought after is the \u2018Fine Lavender\u2019 (Lavandula angustifolia) type which produces small\u00a0\u00a0 quantities of the excellent Lavender Oil and grows in the arid mountains of Provence at an altitude above 800m. The \u2018Fine Lavender\u2019 is a small plant with\u00a0 only one flower on each stem. Approx. 130kg of flowers are needed for 1litre of oil. Lavandin: Is a crossing between the \u2018fine lavender\u2019 and the \u2018spiked\u00a0 lavender\u2019. It grows anywhere in large round clumps and produces an abundance of flowers (often found in lavender sachets). Only 40kg of flowers are\u00a0 needed for 1litre of oil.<\/p>\n
