with Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, the donkey and the ox for the Christmas crib.

Traditionally, the crib is a stable to welcome the baby Jesus.
Before midnight on 24 December, only the cradle, or manger, is placed in the centre of the crib.
At the time of his advent, Jesus is surrounded by Mary and Joseph, the donkey and the ox.
The donkey is the animal that carried Mary to the stable where she gave birth.
Since Jesus was born in winter, the donkey was brought to keep him warm with its breath.
Above the cradle, a star is usually placed, the one that will show the
three Magi the way to find the baby Jesus who has just been born.

The Christmas crib is a staged scene with the Holy Family in the first place.
Then come all the inhabitants of the village, because in Provence
it is the whole village that is represented around the advent.

Our santons are made and painted by hand in our workshop in
Provence according to tradition.
